Glass Door Kitchen Cabinets
Glass door kitchen cabinets turn upper units into display — crockery, glassware and objects sit behind clear, frosted or tinted glass with optional LED lighting, while base units keep everything else concealed. At George Villa we produce glass-front kitchens in our Foshan factory: shaker or handleless fronts with glass inserts, black-frame or frameless doors, and interior lighting wired to your switch. Every unit is drawn to your kitchen plan and built from E0/ENF-grade board with European hardware. Send your kitchen drawing or reference photos and we return production drawings and a quotation within 24 hours.
Display, Light and Concealment
Glass uppers change how a kitchen is used, not just how it looks: when the crockery is displayed, it is used, and the room between kitchen and dining stops feeling like a work zone. The balance is the design — two or four glass doors flanking a solid run, sized from your drawing.
The glass has four routes: clear for a full display, frosted for a soft diffused look, tinted for colour depth, fluted for texture that hides clutter. Frames run from black aluminium for a graphic contrast, to painted shaker, to frameless with push-to-open for the cleanest line.

Glass and Frame Combinations
The combination most used in villa projects is clear glass in a black aluminium frame over matte white or grey fronts — a graphic contrast that makes the display the focal point. Fluted or tinted glass softens the same frame when the upper stores everyday items.
Painted shaker frames bring the glass door into a traditional scheme in any lacquer colour; frameless doors with push-to-open keep a modern run uninterrupted. Lighting runs on its own switch or dimmer. Most requested glass-door schemes:

Glass Options for Display Cabinet Doors
Four glass types cover the display cabinets we produce, each with a different way of softening or showing what is behind it:
Clear tempered
The full-view option, for a display styled like a shelf. It shows everything, good or not, so it suits a household that will keep the display curated.
Frosted or etched
A diffused glass that hides the back of the shelf and the clutter while keeping the light. The most forgiving of the four, and the one we recommend for a first glass run.
Fluted or reeded
A ribbed glass that distorts the view into vertical lines. It reads as a material in its own right and hides a shelf that is not perfectly styled — the current villa favourite.
Smoked or tinted
A lightly tinted glass that dims the display and works well against a dark cabinet frame, for a more formal reading of the same idea.
Frame
The glass is set into either an aluminium frame, the lighter and cleaner option, or a wood frame matched to the cabinet, the warmer one. We specify frame and glass together so the two read as one door.
Safety
Every display door uses tempered glass at 5 to 6 mm with polished edges, so a broken panel fails into dull pieces rather than shards. The spec is in the production drawing and checked before packing.
Lighting
We fit a warm LED profile inside each display cabinet, on a motion or door sensor, so the glass reads as lit rather than as a dark box. The light is wired in the factory.
What you send
The glass type, the frame material and the cabinet height. We return the tempered spec, the edge finish and the lighting plan in the production drawing before the first panel is cut.

Glass Front vs Solid Doors
Glass fronts display and brighten; solid fronts conceal and calm.
| Glass front | Solid doors | |
|---|---|---|
| Display | Crockery shown and used daily | Concealed |
| Dust | Closed glass — far less dusting than open shelves | Closed solid — nothing visible |
| Light | Reflects and carries LED light, brightens the room | Quieter, flatter front |
| Best for | Kitchens opening to dining | Storage-first kitchens |

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the cabinet glass tempered?
Yes. All glass is heat-strengthened and bevel-cut; tempered glass shatters to small granules rather than sharp shards, which is the standard for kitchen display doors.
Can the lighting be on a separate switch?
Yes. Each lit section is wired to its own terminal, so you run the display light from the kitchen switch, a dedicated switch or a dimmer, independent of the room lighting.
Do glass doors need more dust care?
Less than open shelves. Display items behind closed glass are dusted far less often, which is why coastal and humid-climate homes usually prefer closed glass doors over open display.
Can only some uppers be glass?
That is the most common layout — two or four glass doors flanking a solid run, positioned from your drawing so the display sits at eye level between the base and full-height units.
What glass options are available?
Clear, frosted, tinted or fluted, 4 to 6 mm heat-strengthened with bevel-cut edges. The door frame can be black aluminium, painted shaker or frameless push-to-open, matched to your base units.
Can the glass uppers and solid lowers come in one order?
Yes. That is the mixed-unit line: glass uppers with matching solid lower fronts, one drawing set, one numbered packing list, one shipment.
