PIVOT & STATEMENT DOORS

Pivot and Statement Doors for Villa Entrances

A pivot door is the statement moment of a villa: a large, often full-height leaf that turns on top and bottom pivots instead of side hinges, set in an entrance hall, a study or the main living room. At George Villa our Foshan factory produces pivot and statement doors for new-build villas — full solid wood, veneered or lacquered leaves up to full wall height, with the pivot hardware, the frame and the closer drawn as one system to your opening, so a heavy leaf turns on day one and stays there.

What Is a Pivot Door Package?

Because the set is drawn from your floor plan, the leaf size, the pivot positions, the frame reveal and the hardware all resolve on paper before production. Send your opening drawing, and we return production drawings with leaf, pivot and finish options plus a landed quotation within 24 hours.

Materials and Finishes for Pivot Doors

A pivot door is a structural statement as much as a finish, specified from the hardware up: top and floor pivots in stainless rated to the leaf weight, closer and latch detailed to the pivot line, and a leaf — solid, veneered or lacquered — stable enough to carry its own size. Book-matched veneer over a solid frame is the same look with the stability a large leaf needs.

The finish is where the statement lands: oil for an open grain, stain for depth, lacquer for a sealed modern surface, or a two-tone scheme across leaf and frame. The six finishes below are the most specified for pivot and statement doors; any approved species, stain, lacquer or two-tone scheme can match.

Where a Pivot Door Sits in a New-Build Villa

Eight decisions are made at the drawing stage and are expensive to change once the floor and the ceiling are finished:

Pivot positions in the floor and ceiling

The top and floor pivot points are detailed into your floor and ceiling drawing, sized to the leaf weight. A pivot door is set by its pivots first — the leaf second — and the pivots are fixed before the floor closes.

Leaf weight and hardware rating

The pivots, the closer and the latch are rated to the leaf weight on the drawing. A heavy leaf on under-rated hardware is the most common pivot failure, and it is checked on paper.

Swing path and clearance

The leaf’s swing path is checked against the furniture and the walkway on your plan, so the statement door opens fully without hitting the chaise or the wall.

Frame and reveal to the wall

The frame is detailed to the wall finish — a statement frame or a shadow-gap reveal — so the leaf reads as the feature, not as a door in a gap.

Two-tone and finish scheme

Where the client wants a two-tone leaf or a contrasting frame, the scheme is fixed on the drawing and confirmed on a posted sample before the veneer is cut.

Glass insert, if specified

An optional laminated glass band carries light through the leaf; the frame and the reveal are matched to the glass edge on the drawing.

External line and locking

Where the pivot is on an external line, the multi-point locking is detailed into the set on the drawing, not added on site.

Numbered set delivery

The leaf, the pivots and the hardware ship as one numbered set in the villa’s container sequence, so the pivots and the leaf are fitted in the same visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the lead time for a pivot door set?

Typically 15–30 days from drawing and sample approval. The leaf, the pivots and the hardware are produced as one numbered set and ship in the villa’s coordinated sequence.

How big can a pivot door be?

Full-height and double-width leaves as the standard line — up to 1200 mm wide and 3000 mm high, larger on the drawing. The pivots and the closer are rated to whatever size the leaf takes.

Will a heavy pivot door stay up over time?

Yes — the pivots, the closer and the latch are rated to the leaf weight on the drawing, and the set is pivot-tested at the factory before it ships. That is what keeps the leaf from dropping on its hardware.

Can the pivot door be two-tone?

Yes — a two-tone leaf or a contrasting frame is fixed on the drawing and confirmed on a posted sample before the veneer is cut.

Can a pivot door carry a glass insert?

Yes — a laminated glass band or panel in the leaf, with the frame and reveal matched to the glass edge, carries light through the statement door.

Is there a minimum order for a pivot door?

There is no MOQ — a single statement door is a complete order. The same drawing repeats for twin villas at a reduced unit cost.
