Solid Wood Interior Doors for Villas
A solid wood door is the warm line of the villa: oak, walnut or ash leaves — full solid, veneered or a wood panel in a solid frame — that carry the grain of the material into the bedrooms, studies and entrances. At George Villa our Foshan factory produces solid wood interior door sets for new-build villas: kiln-dried timber or a solid frame with wood veneer, finished in oil, stain or lacquer, with the frame, architrave and hardware drawn to the same specification so the door and its surround read as one piece.
What Is a Solid Wood Door Package?
Because each set is drawn from your floor plan, the grain direction, the panel profile, the frame reveal and the finish all resolve on paper before production. Send your door schedule or room drawings, and we return production drawings with species, finish and hardware options plus a landed quotation within 24 hours.

Materials and Finishes for Solid Wood Doors
Solid wood doors are specified from the material up: species sets the grain, construction sets the stability, finish sets how the grain shows. Full solid is the classic for the main rooms; book-matched veneer over a solid frame is the same look with the stability a large leaf needs. All timber is kiln-dried to 8–12% moisture before finishing.
The finish is drawn to how the grain should read: oil for open natural grain, stain for depth, lacquer for a sealed surface. Frame and architrave take the same species as the leaf. The six finishes below are the most specified for new-build villas; any approved species, stain or oil can match.

Where Solid Wood Doors Sits in a New-Build Villa
Eight decisions are made at the drawing stage and are expensive to change once the grain has been cut:
Grain direction on the drawing
The grain runs and the match (book or run) are fixed on the production drawing before the veneer is cut, so a double-leaf door reads as one board and the grain lands the way the client wants it.
Species against the room
Oak for the bright rooms, walnut for the warm studies and entrances, ash for a pale modern scheme — the species is specified per room on the schedule, not one size for the whole villa.
Finish to the grain read
Oil leaves the grain open and natural, stain deepens the colour in the same grain, lacquer seals the surface. The finish is chosen per room against how the client wants the grain to read.
Frame and architrave in the same species
The frame and architrave take the same species and finish as the leaf, so the door and its surround read as one piece rather than a door set into a painted wall.
Swing and weight
Solid wood leaves are heavier than flush doors; the hinges and the swing are specified to the leaf weight on the drawing, so the door does not drop on its hinges over the first year.
Wet-room caution
Solid wood is not the wet-room specification — bathrooms and wet zones take the flush moisture-resistant line, and the schedule says so per door.
Colour continuity across the house
Where the client wants continuity, the door species is drawn from the same wood as the kitchen and flooring, so the grain carries through the villa in one line.
Numbered delivery
Doors ship numbered to the schedule with hardware bagged per door, in the villa’s container sequence — the builder hangs them in schedule order.

Full Solid vs Veneered Panel vs Solid-Frame Door
All three carry real wood — the table is how we specify them by default.
| Full Solid Timber | Solid Frame + Veneer | Solid Frame + Wood Panel | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stability on large leaves | Most movement, best for standard sizes | Most stable, large and double leaves | Stable, mid-weight |
| Grain character | Unique, deep grain | Matched, continuous grain | Real grain on the panel |
| Cost profile | Highest | Mid to high | Mid |
| Best for | Statement doors, main entrances | Large bedroom and study doors | Cost-efficient wood lines |

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the lead time for a full villa wood door set?
Typically 15–30 days from drawing and sample approval. The whole door schedule is produced on the same line in the same window and ships as one numbered sequence.
Which species do you work in?
Oak, walnut, ash and other approved hardwoods. The species is specified per room on the door schedule, and the frame and architrave take the same species as the leaf.
Are the doors solid or veneered?
Both lines: full solid timber for statement doors, a solid frame with book-matched veneer panels for the stable large-leaf line, and a solid frame with a wood panel for the cost-efficient line. The schedule specifies the construction per door.
How do you protect solid wood doors in shipping?
In export crates with edge protectors and the leaf laid to avoid point load; moisture is controlled in the crate so the grain does not move in transit. The hardware ships bagged with the door.
Can the wood doors be matched to my kitchen or flooring?
Yes — where the client wants continuity, the door species is drawn from the same wood as the kitchen and flooring, so the grain carries through the villa in one line.
What hardware do you supply with wood doors?
Hinges specified to the leaf weight, plus closers, latches and handles in one finish line across the villa, bagged per door on the schedule.
