Shaker Kitchen Cabinets for Villas
Shaker kitchen cabinets use the classic five-piece recessed panel — a quiet, straight-lined front that works from traditional country houses to modern villas. At George Villa we produce complete shaker kitchens in our Foshan factory: base and wall units, islands, pantries and matching doors for other rooms, in painted finishes or natural wood. Doors are built as frame-and-panel or moulded matched sections, painted in a multi-coat matte lacquer system, and fitted with your choice of handles. Every shaker kitchen is drawn to your floor plan and shipped with numbered assembly drawings. Send your room measurements or reference photos and we return a production drawing and quotation within 24 hours.
Why Shaker Fronts Work in Modern Villas
The shaker front — a flat recessed panel inside a five-piece frame — has stayed in use for two hundred years because it never dates: clean sightlines, no ornament, a proportion that reads calm at any scale. It works with sintered-stone worktops and matte hardware, or with wood floors and warm lighting.
Construction is the difference between a shaker kitchen that lasts and one that cracks: frame-and-panel doors with a floating panel, edges moulded square or mitred, and a multi-coat matte lacquer applied in a ventilated booth. Painted shaker fronts can run with glass-front uppers in the same colour.

Colours and Wood for Shaker Kitchens
The painted shaker palette leans quiet: white and greige for bright schemes, sage and navy for a contemporary read, charcoal and black with a light worktop. A sample panel can be posted before the order is released.
Wood shaker fronts are solid or veneered oak, ash or walnut, oiled or matte-lacquered. Mixed schemes — painted base units with a wood shaker island — are produced as one order. Most requested shaker colours:

Painting a Shaker Kitchen: The Coats Behind the Finish
A shaker door you can live with is built from three decisions made in the factory, not on site:
Substrate
The door is a solid wood frame with a plywood or MDF back, built as a rigid box — the construction that keeps a painted door flat over a 900 mm height.
Pre-sanding
Every door is pre-sanded in the factory before the first coat. On-site sanding of painted shaker doors is the most common source of an uneven finish, so we remove that variable.
Coat system
We build the finish as a primer plus two top coats, in a PU or water-based system. The top coat decides the feel: satin or soft-matte reads as painted timber, gloss as a worktop.
Colour consistency
A kitchen of forty doors must read as one colour. We paint the run in a single batch where the order allows; split projects are colour-matched to a retained sample, not memory.
Hardware finish
The handle finish is specified with the paint colour — brass against sage grey is a different kitchen from brass against cream. Hardware batch matches door batch so the finish ages together.
Touch-up policy
The project documentation includes a touch-up sample of the door finish, so a site mark can be repaired to the exact colour rather than the nearest close match.

Shaker vs Handleless — How to Choose
Shaker fronts suit traditional and mixed schemes; handleless fronts suit modern minimal ones.
| Shaker | Handleless | |
|---|---|---|
| Look | Classic five-piece recessed panel | Flat, continuous front with no visible hardware |
| Opening | Cup or bar handles | Push-to-open or shadow gap |
| Front detail | Panel reveal adds texture | Fully clean line, LED shadow gaps optional |
| Best for | Traditional and mixed-scheme villas | Modern minimal kitchens |

Frequently Asked Questions
Are shaker doors painted or wood?
Both. Painted fronts use our multi-coat matte lacquer system in any colour; wood fronts are solid or veneered oak, walnut or ash, finished oiled, tinted or matte-lacquered.
Can you match a paint colour I already have?
Send a sample, a RAL/NCS code or a photo and we mix the lacquer to match within production tolerance. A painted sample panel can be posted before the full order so you can check in your light.
What handle styles suit shaker cabinets?
Bar pulls, cup pulls and flush edge pulls are the classics. Shaker fronts also work handleless with push-to-open if you prefer a cleaner line — we build both in the same order.
Do shaker cabinets suit a modern villa?
Yes. With sintered-stone worktops, matte hardware and minimal appliances the scheme reads modern; with wood floors and warm lighting it reads traditional. The front itself is neutral in both directions.
What board do the shaker fronts sit on?
An 18 mm E0/ENF-grade carcase with 2 mm edge banding on every edge. Panels are frame-and-panel or fully moulded, 18 to 22 mm thick, with square or mitred edges and a colour-matched reveal.
Can the upper cabinets have glass?
Yes. Clear or frosted glass shaker uppers are available, with an optional LED inside each door, wired to the kitchen light or its own switch.
